Candidate vs Teacher
A candidate is a pre-PQE applicant; a teacher is certified. They are different entities — a candidate must never be modeled, stored, or read as a teacher, and promotion (candidate → teacher) is strictly one-way.
Certificate and TID
A TRCN certificate is a lifetime (never-expiring) proof of registration; the 10-digit TID (Teacher Identification Number) is generated only when a certificate is approved and becomes the teacher's permanent cross-system identifier.
PQE Exam System
The Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) is the exam a candidate must register, pay for, and pass to be certified as a teacher; categories A/B/C/D map to qualification level (A=PhD, B=Masters, C=Degree, D=NCE).

Payment Flow
All TRCN fees (registration, certificate, licence, exams, MCPD) are paid through Remita with a Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) generated from your TRCN portal. Payments are usually confirmed automatically within minutes; if yours still shows pending, keep your RRR and open a support ticket so TRCN can confirm it.
Public Verification
Anyone, without logging in, can check whether a teacher is registered and licensed with TRCN by searching the public register on trcn.gov.ng with the teacher's TRCN registration number (TID). The result shows the teacher's name, state and licence status.
Teaching License
The TRCN teaching licence is a 3-year renewable credential that requires a verified certificate (with TID) plus either a PQE pass or a legacy TRCN licence; it is identified by a
guidNo(licence number).
